a myriad of glittered dust
glimmers across the Milky Way
the sky beckons me in,
I wave my hand
here with me
the fireflies
hum and sing
welcoming
the presage
of a dream come true
so alluring
and tempting
this cosmic beauty is,
even so
I wait awhile
to behold
the rare jewel
from a million mile
I sit in my window
counting galaxies
my swollen eyes
won’t blink
for three hours
I think
at last!
love at first sight
indeed
I catch a glimpse
of the brightest light,
my long-awaited
comet
with its splendor flaunted
this evening bride glows
but only
for three seconds
and after three it goes
what more
would I want to see
today
oh how fast
did it slip away
three hours of longing
for a three-second meeting
when do we see
her again?
three years,
maybe,
three decades
or centuries
that we do not
know
yet certain I am
as the rising sun,
by my window shall I wait
however long it
would take
to see her again
*****
(patience,
her sweet reward
gives you strength
to wait again,
and a little longer)
