farewell, my beloved

Published by

my little one,
drained by her playfulness
rests silently in her bed
beguiled by the pleasures
of the world
not thinking
of what may come
peaceful, she sleeps
awaiting her
unicorn dreams

a new lullaby I sing
tonight,
I hope she still
sleeps tight —

my love,
such good times
we had,
I weep for this parting,
but a lot for us is waiting
I say goodbye
to our wishing well
and wonderland;
I now hold on to faith
and trust
but no more
pixie dusts

my time has come
to walk ahead
into the open door
of change
it’s time to grow,
it’s time to age
took a while for us
to turn the page

with a forehead kiss
I let go and whisper,
goodnight my darling,
my child self,
surely soon
I’ll come visit
and tell you
great stories
of
the adult life
